I will say this about the new iPhone versus the S5. The s5 really brought nothing new to the table, just small features. At least with the iPhone 6, Apple brought basic support for what is usually done by the carrier right into the OS, and also brought in Metal.

Good call, he might have been one of the "lucky" few who got an iPhone 5 with the battery issue. To be fair, Apple is replacing the battery in the affected models for free.

$299 USD equals about £185 GBP - and before I speaketh the next sentence, I understand and appreciate you have sales tax which can add another $60 USD (or more?). The UK Apple store price is an OUTRAGEOUS £619 (including 20% tax) This is totally and utterly %&%%^&^&* as, if you reverse this back into USD and remove the tax, you get a figure of $558 USD If Apple tried to release an iPhone for that figure, there would be civil war, complete with cutting off of heads and tea crates thrown into harbours. I am STAGGERED at the price they are trying to sell this at in the UK. Seriously, someone "$^$£"^$% pinch me so I can wake the *&%^*$* up.

Apple use the same tokenisation method for NFC payment, just 6 years later of smartphone in Asia and 3years later that most Android Phone and windows phone .. Every Android / windows phone smartphone use NFC this way and it is available and used in EU since many times . Apple have never want to pay for NFC and wanted to use their own method ( based on BlueTooth and Wifi ) but they have need to change their direction as, even in EU ( i can pay with my Samsung anything in my country just because it use NFC who is linked to my Mastercard, Visa )..... Even on the end of my road, i can go in a shop and pay with NFC ( added with tokenisation ) for pay my paquets of cigarettes . Bascially, on this aspect, Apple is just according with the world standard of paymenent of near field contact. On Tokyo, you just use a smartphone for pay the metro .. their NFC distance is over the recommended range in Europe, but you dont have to release your smartphone from your pocket.. ( And since more than an half decade Near field contact is used daily by everyone there.... ) Seriously, Ibeacon ? lol . Honestly if you look at the majority of the complaints about the new Moto X it's the size of the phone. There definitely is a number of people that prefer smaller phones, myself somewhat included. I tried a Note and didn't like it. The Nexus 5 is the largest I'd ever want a device and even that is stretching it.

This just places Apple ahead of any manufacturer even more. Samsung never caught up with them. Fixed it for you. I never had battery issues with any of my iPhones. Did you play soccer with yours by any chance? Obviously this is not an Apple site and hate comments are just a given.

Are you posting this from your spot in line at your local Apple Store? My 3GS, 4S and my wife's 4 all had battery issues after a year her 5 though has been problem free for almost 2 years now. Samsung passed Apple in technology with the S2 and HTC did it with the 4G. The only thing Apple has is the in house development between the software and hardware.

So as far as phones/media devices, this just catches Apple up with Samsung. My old iPhone 5, which I used for about a year, only charged for about 30 minutes of talk and a single day of standby after that single year of use. You can't get much worse than that so any new battery is better.

It is a little late, but Apple admitted the batteries in the 5 were bad. You should be able to get it replaced for free (have to wipe your phone though). I don't get all the Apple hate. I have a 5 and like it. I used Android for a while too. They both have quirks. I use my phone for work though and the build quality and OS stability of iPhone is just plain better. Plus if I close an app, it actually closes and I don't need to kill a task and hope it doesn't come back on from a scheduled task.

And then all these little simple things that every smartphone has, are still not there, are making me say "Nah...whatever".

Everyone obviously has there own opinion about this. I myself have never been an iPhone fan and probably never real. Steve Jobs pushed many things ahead in the market. iPhone is no longer the leader in the phone market. Samsung is the leader no matter how much people hate Samsung. IMO Apple did the same thing that AMD did and that was put there product in cruise control. When they did that, Samsung passed them up just as Intel did in the CPU market. Now iPhone is playing catch up. I wonder since Samsung had to pay a couple billion to Apple for some stolen technology, makes me wonder if Apple will end up doing the same and pay Samsung for stealing technology. I am referring to the watches. Another is that the iPhone 6 plus is still subpar to the Note 4 and yet it will cost you more to own. The only thing going that I can see is the Apple has put in there system a 64 bit OS. IMO that is good but early to the game just like Microsoft did when it first came out with 64 bit OS on Windows XP. By the time it is actually more relevant to the market Samsung will have come out with there own. Or who knows, maybe some new player to the game will take over. Everything goes in cycles. Only time will tell. Those Apple fan boys will be dumb to pay the prices for the new iPhones. IMO!

Nexus 5 doesn't have a memory card slot either, so what's your point? Bluetooth has always worked on the iPhone. If you're talking about file transfer, that was implemented in iOS 7, called AirDrop. It only works between Apple devices, but Apple's implementation uses both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for faster file transfer which you wouldn't be able to achieve with Bluetooth alone. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5887

No it won't as the iPhone 6 plus only has a 1920x1080 screen? Mobile devices have been doing this for a while, i can run games at 1920x1200 on my year old tablet, but it's not like it next gen console graphics they are pushing out. Slightly underwhelmed by the iPhone 6 specs, even my 2 year old 4.7inch HTC One X has a higher resolution screen, and i don't think it's far to expect people to get the 5.5inch version to get a 1080p screen, not just for the sake of money but because alot don't want a phone that big. The rest all sounds nice enough though, just the screen res and price letting it down.
