This is so redicilous 1,500,000 fine is just way to much. We live in a corrupt world simple as that.

He broke the law. He is being punished for it. No story here.
Ya, let's chop the hands off of thieves while we're at it.

I believe in punishing criminals - if pirates were consistently prosecuted and punished for it then there would be allot less of it. The same goes for any kind of thievery. As for the punishment - fining him that kind of money is stupid, since there's not much chance he'll ever be able to pay it. The better option would be to throw him in jail for a year or three, preferably on a some alternative to a chain gang... get some work out of the bum.

@Elder 3 So in your opinion, it's correct and fair to deprive somebody of his right for freedom for 3 years for uploading a few porn videos on the internet? Interesting... You would walk together with the judge all right... Or maybe you were just kidding... Anyway, I agree with u on that work therapy part. He should get a job (without salary) in said company - something like anal and vaginal douche for the porn "actors", cleaning up body fluids in flicks like "2 girls 1 cup" etc..

Hmm...not sure I agree with the prison angle. At least you advocated getting some work out of the bum and umm not 'in the bum'.

i figured it would be some major Hollywood studio or something that magnitude for fines that large. how much was actually invested is making these quality films that can't possible last for more than 2-3 minutes, and even then on a good day. 😉

Yes, the fine is insanely high and the company will never see the money. Jail time isn't an option because piracy is a civil matter, not criminal. So, either massive fines from civil suits for piracy....or it's finally turned into a criminal offense. Those are the only ways to deal with pirates unless we choose to ignore the problem which would eventually result in companies going bankrupt. I only live a few miles from this idiot....

Current philosophy is definitely not to ignore the problem. It is to embrace it, not as a problem, but as a solution to our problems.

Piracy is a problem....not a solution. Companies use piracy to justify higher prices, which hurt honest consumers. Companies also use piracy to push for stricter laws and legislation such as SOPA, PIPA and the ACTA "Treaty".... Most of those that pirate claiming price as their reason, would do it regardless of the price. It's for those people, that these huge fines are justified.

The system is corrupt. Wikileaks has made it clear that USA has been running errands for the movie and music industry even in Sweden, pushing for harsher laws. 1.5 million??? He would have gotten a lot less by stealing physical copies and notice just how the crooks at @ wall street aren't behind bars after 2008? :bang:
