"TressFX" - I will get maybe good fps on my GTX 480 because I think that GTX 480 is faster or slower than HD 7970* at extreme/insane (hair tessellated) tessellation (eg: Tessmark 0.3.0). πŸ˜‰ * - attention to ATi-AMD Optimized Tesselation (enabled is (much) faster than disabled/original but enabled is lower polygons.)
Bro your GTX 480 isn't faster than the HD 7970 in anything I'm afraid other than Physx, as AMD doesn't support Nvidia Physx. πŸ™‚ Plus this game is optimized on AMD cards, specifically the HD 7 series. So I'm sure there will be an advantage for AMD to some degree.

Am I the only one here that doesn't care about hair?
nope, i mostly care about tits and ass too. But here we are speaking about graphics, and every improvement it's welcome.

Exactly, if the recent specs that got released are to be believed (and they haven't adjusted them) then the NVidia optimization is going to be terrible. They've listed the recommended cards as HD 5850s and a GTX 480s, with the GTX 480 being in a different league and it being placed along side an HD 5850 it doesn't bode well for NVidia. (This stands even if you change the card to an HD 6850).

So funny to have a new effect like this and AMD/ATI only gives us screenshots, this is something that needs to be watched in motion. :bang:

Wow AMD deserves a gold star for introducing new technology and not hoarding it for them selves or making people pay a licencing fee. Tops to that man! I don't want an argument for this it's just a point that has to be made.

Well i like the fact that water, wind and other conditions affect the hair <3

Nvidia can definitely do this tech and nvidia was the first one to demo Realistic Hair back in 2010. Nvidia Hair Tessalation, this looks more natural and realistic physics Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7s7UyAVbmU

Looks decent from the screens but not worth more than 3-5 fps tops.

Nvidia Hair Tessalation, this looks... realistic physics
Not true because see my post. πŸ™ πŸ˜‰

Another stupid gpu exclusive feature...

They look amazing ! Im glad to have amds now woohoo. Well, I expect Nvidia to launch something similar in a few days if not today haha.

Lmao^..............

Cool. I really love stuff like this. In games like RPGs where character customization is a popular feature, realistic hair would be welcome.

480GTX ~ 1.3tflops 7970 ~ 4tflops My OC'ed 570GTX has ~ 1.8 - 2tflops, i think gotta re-run sisoft Sandra. Imo its using very little tessellation for it, mostly direct compute power. πŸ™‚ EDIT: at 950MHZ its 1.82tflops SP or 347Gflops DP (680GTX has 202Gflops DP) @ Year lmao πŸ˜€

^ Yes, but i think it wont use DP, just SP. At least that's why some NV representive said, no game uses DP yet, he could be wrong though xD. Btw what's AMD 7970 DP? Titan has ~ 1.3tflops if im not mistaken, GK104 uses less then GF100/110. And thanks nice screens, looks epic! I already pre-ordered retail, Can't wait. πŸ™‚

Clearly, i dont know if this type of DirectCompute use FP64 or not ( dont think so ) Ofc Titan have more DP available. 7970 have 1.0 Tflops DP at 1:4 rate. Titan have 1.3Tflops at 1:3 rate ( for 4.5Tflops SP.. clock speed is a lot lower on FP64 mode hence why it is only 1.3Tflops. )
