If used within spec it should last a long time. While I retired my i7-980X, it was running fine when I pulled the plug, and it spent its entire lifetime overclocked between 4,3 and 4,6Ghz. My partner still has my old Q9450 and it's still running. My 9800GX2, GTX 285, GTX 470, GTX 570, GTX 680 and GTX 1080... yep, still all running. Why would current GPUs be any different? Obviously, there will be duds, I've had several GPUs die on me while under warranty over the years, but there will always be a bad apple or two in a bunch.

the smart money is waiting for Xmas to buy rdna 3 cards. the issue is just supply pipelines, and almost all of the problems have been ironed out (there's a ripple effect of time) in the supplies from the smaller (parts) manufacturers. and for AMD gpus there is a need to build up the requisite stock of bin sorted chiplets (top models always come first). TSMC has geared up for massive (!!) production at this node for AMD, the issue is all of the smaller vendors for AIB's and whether DDR is more available but RX 7xxx is going to be a smash and it will be in good supply to keep those insane profits coming for AMD. they have definitively looked at past issues and have committed to fully compete. reality is AMD can double their sales and Nvidia would still have over 50% market share. now that AMD has money it isn't as risky to shoot for a huge initial production run.

DarkQuark:

That seems really close to the release of Zen 4 which I think they mentioned in that article was Q2 2022.
Yeah. I think Zen4 will be late Q3 or early Q4 if I had to guess.
