Krizby:

so which Ryzen 7000 is supposed to have the 3D V-Cache? top end one only? looks like it's gonna kick ass for online competitive gaming.
Rumor is that multiple zen4 cpus will have 3d v-cache. R7/R9?

Yeah I would probably buy the 7800X3D for my next build 😀. Though I had some not so good experiences with R5 3600 + Gigabyte X570 build I made for my nephew, cold boot would always fail with RAM above 3200MT/s despite 3600MT/s work just fine (requires going to BIOS and load saved profile), it's fine for personal build but it's too flaky for normal users. Let hope AM5 is stable at launch.

get ready for 500usd gaming 8-cores here to stay

How do you know amd wont increase the core count and make a ryzen 5 an 8core with zen4? So 300$?

12 cores per CCD would be nice

hw do you know they will that is a stupid question you asked me

You assumed 8core cpu presumably ryzen 7 will be 500$ yet you didnt think there is a chance of a increase in core count. 12600k is 16threads so we can get 16thread ryzen 5. Its not stupid at all.

yes but how am I supposed to prove your wishful thinking ?

We are just theorizing. 8core ryzen 5 or 6core with 3d v-cache, anything can happen. If Intel stays competitive we wont see 500$ 8core cpus.

lol,but intel is just trashing amd in the budget gaming cpu segment between 200 and 300,what are you even talking about I admire amd fans,it's always "next-gen" denial for them. they launched 3700x at 330 and 3800x at 400,then 5800x at 450,refreshed with 5800x3d at 450.but this time they'll be 300,for sure, only depending on intel 🙄 now we just need you bend a little bit more..... regular l3 cache is half the die on 5800x,then another 64mb is sitting on top.you think this will be cheap,I think amd just got their customers used to paying more.

it means you need lower voltages for the same frequency, but that doesn't mean you can't use higher if you want to go faster 😀
at the expense of degrading your silicon faster (see Sudden Northwood Death Syndrone) :P

5800x3d's are binned 5800x's to begin with, but still they get toasty even at stock with a 360mm aio, despite their incredible efficiency. https://www.purepc.pl/test-recenzja-procesora-amd-ryzen-7-5800x3d?page=0,33 my tip for people who managed to get one: treat it like an egg.no oc,no voltage tampering, get an aio.if you got it for gaming,it's already awesome at stock.what more do you need from it ?

10600k and 11600k ware embarrassment. No wonder 5600x was so overpriced. Honestly 10400f was only budget cpu. It took them two years to get this point.

to an amd fanboy maybe, not for reviewers https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-core-i5-10600k/ https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i5-10600k-cpu-review 10600K beat every other cpu in gaming at $265,bar 10900K but yeah,5800x3d is so great at 450 and that was an embarassment. https://tpucdn.com/review/intel-core-i5-10600k/images/relative-performance-games-1920-1080.png https://tpucdn.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-5800x3d/images/relative-performance-games-1920-1080.png

schmidtbag:

If it's a necessity due to the nature of the architecture, that's fine. If they're doing this so they can keep up with Intel, that worries me.
Look at it another way, we already know the new arch probably includes 3d cache which currently has a limit, this chip is way past that limit so that issue has been solved, am looking forward to the new chips I think they are going to be another big step forward

BLEH!:

depends on the process, since 7000 is on 5nm which is EUV based, nobody really knows how voltage tolerant it is, the contrast between 45nm(intel) at 1.45v and 32nm SOI(glofo) at1.55v comes to mind there is also the possibility of amd using on die voltage regulation, where the input voltage is used to generate other voltages. they already do this on current ryzen chip to a limited extent ,on cezanne for instance the soc voltage is used to generate gpu core voltage and a few others.

Would this be/does Ryzen use something like the Haswell/Broadwell on-die voltage regs?

its similar but different , broadwell/haswell uses FIVR (fully integrated voltage regulator) amd uses low-dropout voltage regulators, they function differently, but ineffect its a similar result, amd's implementation seems more advanced, since the ldos are also used for powergating. https://www.anandtech.com/show/11964/ryzen-mobile-is-launched-amd-apus-for-laptops-with-vega-and-updated-zen/4

1.5v thing aside, all the rumors suggest that TDP is going up, at least for certain models, with Zen4. As long as it's within reason and with enough of a performance jump ( alder lake style, or better ) i'm fine with that.

I've just been reading on a couple of different sites that the first release Zen 4 chips probably won't contain any 3D cache. They may not arrive until 2023. That's a bit disappointing as I was wanting to upgrade to X670 chipset.
