I may have wanted to replace it before I even used it, but I feel lucky to even have something as good as a 5700XT at this point. The 6700XT won't be a good upgrade for my rig, even at normal price. I like to at least get +50% performance or better when replacing a GPU and then I can try to justify the cost to myself. But at these prices? It's absurd to even talk about value with GPUs these days.
Agreed, you'd need to look at an RX 6800 at the very least for a significant gain in performance over your RX 5700 XT. I'd gone from the excellent PC Vega64 RD to an RX 6800 (before getting the RX 6900 XT in my profile) and the uplift in performance was pretty impressive. Do hang on to your 5700 XT in the meantime, supply of both AMD and nVidia newer GPU's are mind numbingly short, your 5700 XT should tide you over the next few months easily enough till the severe shortage of GPU now blows over.

I hear you on the shortage. My son ended up with my 1070 so his barely used RX580 was going to be sold, but with all the craziness, I kept it. I kind of like having it around as a backup if something goes bad in one of our rigs as it's a pretty decent card. I'd hate to have gotten rid of it and suddenly have a need to replace one of our GPUs. My 1070 is getting pretty old, but it keeps trucking along. I have a bad feeling that the GPU shortage will last the year.

Undying:

Lets be honest 6700 6gb didnt make sense anyway. If it was cut down navi 22 then maybe or just call it 6600xt. As for 6700xt i have high hopes for this card. 25% over 5700xt is a 3060ti/3070 level of performance.
20-25% is more like 2080S-3060Ti

With a few tweaks and sam it will reach 3070 level atleast thats the rumor. It also have more vram. Anyway 2080s is not 25% faster than 5700xt. Maybe at the release but not today.

22% https://www.pcgameshardware.de/Geforce-RTX-3060-Ti-Grafikkarte-276807/Tests/vs-3070-vs-2070-Super-Benchmark-Release-Review-Preis-1362666/2/ 24% https://www.computerbase.de/2020-12/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-asus-msi-test/2/#abschnitt_benchmarks_in_2560__1440_sowie_1920__1080 23.5% https://www.purepc.pl/test-karty-graficznej-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-wydajny-maluch?page=0,27 23% https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-founders-edition/35.html so that's over 25% to match a 3060ti to get to 3070 level SAM would have to make up for almost 20% difference between 2080S and 3070,so that is not happening.btw 3070 is getting SAM too,and unlike amd, they're gonna test it themselves and enable profiles only for games that don't have negative scaling. rx6000 definitely could have better sam improvement overall but amd want users to test what works and what doesn't themselves.so you're getting negative perf impact almost as often as you see games improving.

My hasty decision to buy a stopgap GPU last year, at below MSRP, seemed stupid at the time, as it was still close to $400 and I fully intended to buy a 3070 or 3080 6-8 months later. Turns out, I was brilliant! 😛 I may have wanted to replace it before I even used it, but I feel lucky to even have something as good as a 5700XT at this point. Haha did the same. Bought a 5700XT while waiting for the 3070. Can't say i regret buying it.
