You are right, they do have the performance crown on the pro market. The problem is that over there, we have a lot of multi-gpu workstations and they're generally not looking for the most powerful card, they generally look for the most efficient.
I'm sorry I don't know what I was thinking when I said they would compete against qualcomm. I forgot the fact that they're aiming for the server market. I know hp has branches in this market, but I have no idea how they stack up. I will research this subject, I cannot make any educated guess right now.

Oh my god. AMD isn't going anywhere. And even if they do it's not like they'll suddenly vanish. They'll spin off their different groups and sell them to other companies. Who knows maybe Intel would purchase their graphics division and compete with Nvidia directly.
But no, they aren't going anywhere.

AMDs GPU side is fine.

More bad news for AMD. They have good products but their margins are much smaller than the ones of Intel and Nvidia so making money is proving to be very difficult and their bet on ARM is still to pay off.
They really need a break or they face the risk of going down in the future, something that i hope it doesn´t happen.

I wish it was still Ati 🤓 never liked it that Amd bought them.

personally I think AMD would be better off leaving the consumer market, work more in ARM and learn more on lower power devices, then maybe at some point later come back to consumer market with new tech with lower power cpu's ... but that's just my opinion.

If AMD ever goes then you can bet Nvidia will take us all for every penny.
No one will benefit consumer wise if AMD demises.

I don't know who's more clueless - those saying AMD is finished,
or those asking what's with the doom and gloom, and saying AMD is "fine"
Because it's really THAT obvious that AMD is neither fine, nor finished.
They have a huge battle in front of them, the outcome of which is impossible to predict with reasonable certainty.
So called selling sand. But AMD is much more than that.
And that's part of their problem - they are facing too many directions, with competition dwarfing them in every single one.
And too few resources to remain competitive. Year after year, their R&D is dwindling down, while competition is stepping up.
In good news: Their Pro graphics is finally starting to earn its place under the sun.

@Noisiv, totally agree..

games would run better for us if amd was outta picture i imagine, as the devs would only have to deal with us greens.
i couldn't care less if they disappeared or not, if it pushed NVidia pricing through the roof i'd throw away my pc and look for something else to waste my time with.
HonoredShadow
Just what I was thinking SLI-756. If AMD go and Nvidia puts prices up. I'm gone from PC. Maybe gone from modern gaming altogether.
Will use the old machines and emulators. Plenty of games there.

I knew the responses to my post would make me chuckle on the way him from work.
Of course amd are not finished guys and no matter what nvidia release no matter how powerful or how much power it uses, amd will always be around, always.
Hook, line, sinker and the fisherman I would say:banana:
Thanks my friends.

Not finished but not in great shape either. They must be losing money on every 290 290x they are selling.

obliviously amd is not in good shape

There is no way AMD will stop making GPU's. They need the advancing technology for integration in upcoming APU's which are their main focus right now.
