Would be a nice card to fit in any chassis with a nice balanced price of course... Now... talking about power, always guys come here to talk about nvidia lower power usage but its interesting see that nobody here talk the true... The R9 FURY X in most games and stress test used less power than GTX 980 TI reference... Just to put the letters in right place, FURY X (fiji) is BETTER TALKING ABOUT POWER!

It'll be nowhere near the performance of the 290X.
It will be no doubt there same level of performance why not really. Even tho Fury and Fury X don't seem to get to use their full power even close does not mean smaller chip won't.

im more interested in the pricing on this mini hulk card. if the price is right, it'll be perfect for a decent budget gaming rig.

You mean there is no reason to not imagine that Furys are not better cards than they actually are so why then not just go ahead and imagine that further cut Fiji will be performing better than, say, 290x or gtx 980. Sure, why not. We can believe in Flying Spaghetti Monster while at it.

Yes, this. I hope it will be priced like AMD used to price their cards back in 2008/9 so I can finally grab gtx 970 for what it's really worth - 250$.

When you think about it, it makes perfect sense why people who are biased towards one brand seem to be so loud and obnoxious when it comes to the Intel/Nvidia camp. These people need to feel somehow superior by picking the winning team and rooting for them as loud as possible, regardless of it being true or not, It makes them feel a little less small. Where as people who generally are biased towards the underdog seem to demonstrate more empathy which makes them a little bit more modest. I'm personally a science/technology fan/enthusiast and I appreciate advancement where ever it comes from. wish more people were like this... the internet is filled with manchilds and real children.

You want a 970 priced around 1/2 the price of a 980 at around 90% the performance of a 980?

And then people grow up and look back and realize how pointless all that was. At least I did. I look at people complaining about gameworks instead of just buying nVidia card. I would, I just can't afford one atm, well, I could but bitcoin miners are selling all these 7970s and 280Xs with warranty for so cheap that it's just hard to pass on the opportunity 🤓

Yes. 980 should be ~350$, 980Ti should be 450-500$. I picked up GeForce DDR, best nVidia card ever up to that point, their flagship card, it was 500$ on launch. GF 4800Ti was also 500$ at launch and so on and so on. Now they are overpricing their crap too much. You are free to fully disagree with me, but I wrote my honest opinion.

Hopefully you don't work for nvidia, they would be bankrupt in no time.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/172/172560.jpg
No, I work for IMF, to repay my country's ever increasing debt. :'( I don't buy new cards anymore, I buy used under warranty. At this point, I don't see how I can buy a better cost/performance card than 280x with ~14months warranty for ~170$(150€ we pay taxes in Europe, we can't order VAT free from newegg so that price I gave is pretty good price) PS. They didn't go bankrupt when their flagship cards were priced 500$, they got richer and richer. Why would they go bankrupt now? If AMD could/had priced Fury X @ 400$ you can bet that nVidia would lower their prices and those 980Ti's would be a lot cheaper and nVidia would still be making money.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/124/124168.jpg
Now you want amd to go out of business selling the fury for 400? Video cards have been over 500 bucks for a lot of years for the highest end segment. Look up the 8800ultra release price.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/172/172560.jpg
yes but because of greed, not actuall costs
We do know NVIDIA has wanted to push up towards the $1000 graphics card segment for a while. Offering the top of the line for what almost amounts to a performance tax would give NVIDIA the ability to sell a card and treat it like a Ferrari. It would turn high end graphics into a status symbol rather than a commodity. That and having a huge margin part in the mix can easily generate additional profits.
source: http://www.anandtech.com/show/2222 What I want is probably irrelevant to you since you obviously sit on a lot of money and enjoy this bolded part of the quote, but I want them to be less greedy. Most people would probably agree with me. As for AMD, it seems to me that they were doing BETTER when they had lower prices but I don't want to argue economics here, I am just assuming that if I have 100 something that I can sell @100$ and make 10$ a pop, and that same 100 products and try and sell @200$ a pop and end up with 10 sales and 90 leftovers I am not really doing better am I? PS. Also, it's not my fault that mining on AMD cards is dead for the most part. That was the huge part of their sales. And with that in mind - they increase the price of their cards?! Good job.

ATI cards were pretty crappy at the time of the 8800ultra, if they could of sold cards at that price point they would of. Like when they were selling top of the line cpus on socket 939 at around a grand. They can't do that now since they have fallen years behind intel.

The Fury X was £509 at OCUK not long ago. Now the price has gone up to part from the Fury. £450 for a Fury and £530 for a Fury X. Good going AMD. Fury is overpriced!!!
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/172/172560.jpg
that particular chain of events is due to the lack of product to satisfy demand. Simply put - they aren't making enough cards and people DO want to buy them. Makes you wonder if AMD wants to go bankrupt?

Um. What? The 970, at its pricepoint, has been hailed as one of the best price for performance cards out there, and though that was released awhile ago, you think the 980 should be at its price, without a successor? I'm not sure i see the logic in this. I'm not saying i'd mind if the 980 for 350, but logically? why would i ever, ever expect that? 980 is exactly where it has always and will always be, the 500-550 segment, that's where all of the "80's" or "800's" have been, the 980ti is also where its segment is for anything classified as above an "80" or "800", and the titans/etc. are even higher Why does everyone seem to think business can't create new markets simply because those markets weren't there before? They didn't CHANGE anything, they simply added new markets because they had the ability to do so And anyone who thinks they know exactly how much it costs to both develop cards at cost, and take into consideration research and etc., and putting out random numbers that "will still make them money, because obviously i know how much they spent on all that" are just being foolish. When exactly did any place state that business' must cut their margins to little to nothing so that customers have to spend less, even though they'd be willing to spend more? That's not a business, that's a charity, or non-profit organization, neither AMD or Nvidia are those, the only difference between the two companies is AMD has to cut their margins to get people to buy their products, and that's really not Nvidias fault.

I don't know but £450 for a Fury is madness. Reference 980 Ti is £509!

Well I think cards should become cheaper, all cards. There are many reasons but gtx 960 is too weak to run newer and ever older games at 1080p @60fps with middle to high details, and it costs over 200$. Next card in line is 970 for 150$ more. Logic? None. Because they can - is not a logic that suits consumer. There was a point in time where you could buy a card for 230$ and play games @50-60fps at mainstream resolution of that time at high settings (not ultra). Think of gtx 560Ti or gtx 460, 9600GT and their AMD/ATi competitors. Now with 960 you can barley play sims (joking) @1080p. Some games love maxwell, but most don't care for it. So, again, this is just my opinion. Why should I support the companys profit interests? I am a consumer, a customer, I want cheaper things, not inflated prices because of this or that. Look at steam statistics and look what people game on. 970 is like 1.5% of cards. People can't afford that ****. This particular forum (Guru3D) has pretty rich (as in able to afford almost anything) demography, but go to some more casual places ad you will see totally different picture. But if the future of gaming is to sell cards and games to people in handful of countries and handful of people in poorer countries, then so be it. and the rest of your comment - who gives a $hit if card has successor or not, not my problem. Like I said, for years I've been buying used cards for half the price or even less when new ones come out. Will continue to do so. That 980 or 970 will be half the price in less than a year.

Fury cards have loads more shaders but those aren't exactly properly utilized vs 290x the architecture isn't that different that the shaders would be worse suddenly. So if Nano has similar amount of shaders as 290x I would imagine it being as fast...

For Nano to success, it has to provide better performance than 970 and yet use same or less power and cost no more than $330 mark (Considering performance gap is little). I hope AMD can achieve it. Been using 970 for a while now, man this handsome devil is still hard to beat. Price, performance and energy consumption wise.
