That is because the XBox One and PS4 are having 8 cpu cores. The consoles dictate how many cpu cores future games will use.
Consoles also dictate that we should all be having an AMD GPU's but that does not seems to be the case.

No you are way off as PC game had multi core processor support way before that all way back to SMP systems.

They can but it has be build in to source code library Linux has always has support as it SMP enable 1996 In fact the Quake 3, Falcon 4.0 where just some of first game Do keep in mind optimized a game is done diff then apps

If you look at how DX12 performs on AMD vs. Nvidia its actually looking like thats happening. Nvidia takes a nose dive in performance when DX12 is used because no ASYNC and shorter pipelines. Unless Nvidia makes a major architectural change then yeah. Even now the Fury X has caught up to the GTX 1070 in BF1 because how DX12 saps nvidia performance and boosts AMD. This isn't isolated either. Its trending. https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/226082-early-directx-12-games-show-a-distinct-split-between-amd-nvidia-performance http://www.tweaktown.com/tweakipedia/116/fury-vs-gtx-1070-battlefield-dx11-dx12/index.html

My 6700k @ 4600mhz, 1080 FTW and 16gb of 3000mhz ram should last me for at least 3 years. Unless something major changes. I am so glad AMD is doing well this launch. They deserve it and it's needed for the industry. I just hope it's better then mediocre performance wins. Good job AMD! 🙂

Not really. Consoles (and game engines) don't work like that. For example, while the xb1 might have an 8 core CPU, 7 are only usable by the dev, effectively making it a 7 core CPU for games.

^I was going to say the same thing and I think they might have 2 cores reserved but regardless I see the 6 core as being best for price to performance and optimization.

But can Ryzen do 5GHz that Is the question.

The funny thing is the 7th core was just recently unlocked to developers to use.

Are you sure? I know it used to be 2 reserved cores, then just 1 to compete with PS4. Didn't know they just unlocked the whole thing though. I assumed the interface is slow f'kin slow because it was running on one core, that might explain some things.

It was actually longer ago than I though too. Only thing it doesn't have access to on the 7th core is kinect or voice communications. https://gamerant.com/xbox-one-games-get-more-powerful-with-unlocked-cpu-core-gates-247870/

Observation for Zen's PCIe 3.0 lanes... 16x for Graphics cards (2x 8) + 8x to connect to chipset, since It can't be 4x because X370 chipset has 8x 2.0 lanes and others controllers (SATA/USB3/3.1) + 4x for M.2 Slot (if you don't use these 2 SATA buses from the CPU) Total = 28 lanes from CPU/SoC Bristol Ridge APU could have 4x limit to connect chipset and just 10 for Graphics card/other expansions...
