skull and bones ubisoft ? yes ? ok then it's just ai-generated npcs to pay less employees but we know what you end up with : starfield as usual btw the 1st ai linked npcs come from elder scrolls modders as soon as chat-gpt became a thing they were working on it and released some in 2023

Yes, I already saw it done by Skyrim modders. Of course it's much easier for modders because there's no particular need to worry about any backlash. If a studio does it in their game and the NPCs suddenly turn bizarrely racist or worse (I leave that to your imagination), the studio might find itself in hot water and gamergated. If a modder does it, it doesn't really mean anything aside from perhaps occasional negativity in user feedback comments.

Can't wait to watch the videos about the uproar of racist and bigot NPCs in games and the pulling of games from digital sales because somebody sues them for "being misrepresented" in some way.

Dont worry. The AI will be absolutely gutted and it will be the most gender-less eunuch of a AI you can possibly imagine. It will be more politically correct and bland, than a EU leader. It will be "fun" indeed :X Such AI will still be able to make fun of straight white male tho. And promote "diversity" and "inclusivity" furiously, while also be very ready to call you "they/them" and other various important tasks.

In theory, I think having NPCs with AI-operated prompts could be pretty cool, especially if you get to actually speak/write whatever you want to them in your own words. This could really make a lot of open-world games far more realistic. Speech synthesis has reached new levels too, where it can sound very convincingly human. I'm sure it takes thousands of hours collectively across the studio of a game just to write minor or unnamed characters. Imagine how much better games could be made if devs and writers could just focus on the main content. EDIT: Also, I'm sure games could shrink by a few GB just simply not having all these audio recordings anymore. I don't see this replacing anyone's jobs either - it just makes the existing jobs more fun since I'm sure it's not fun to deal with most NPCs. I'm excited about the future of AI for gaming. Maybe not necessarily from Ubisoft, but in general.

That'd actually be exciting lmao. Did you even read the first image? Who actually talks like that? The most sterile robot like pretending to be a human. How do you do fellow Human with shared interests? Shall we see if we vibe? How does that sound to you?

Well if anything might be a good advertisment take palworld for example , never heard about it before the backlash never had interests in Pokemon games either ....then I saw the backlash about the game and what features they where complaining about showcasing em with gameplay ...and it looked awesome to me so I went and brought it ! And I had a blast such an awesome game it is !

Okay. I noticed Palworld too, although I figured, if I wouldn't play Pokemon, why should I play "Pokemon with guns"? So that's where everybody's different in their tastes and how "backlash" reaches people. That said, I was referring to a game, where due to hacking / modding, or simply bugs, that generative LLM will suddenly tell the player to kill every NPC so they can easily move through a slum for instance, or a palace. Or worse, when they start to show bias in things sensitive to the general RL public. And so far, every AI was able to be talke into that, at first easier, now it takes a few tricks. But just google at how often this happens, from racist comments, to AIs that would destroy the earth "because if you have nukes, use them!", or that generate Nazi troops of African heritage... they have a long, long process ahead of them, and at first they won't figure out all the loopholes, so it's, imo, unavoidable to read similar news.
