Xiaomi Likely Announcing smartphone with 6.4-inch screen

You read that right, 6.4 inches.  Xiaomi is likely to announce the smart-phone coming may 10th. The Chinese manufacturer is showing a teaser in its social network on Weibo. The biggest Smartphone thus far had a 5.7" screen.

The Weibo post shows that May 10th Xiaomi is hosting an even to introduce the Mi Max, or RedMi Max - in some of the GFXBench results a benchmark already appeared under that name with a full-hd-screen at 6.4". If the listing is right then the product will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650-soc, a hexacore with two Cortex A72-cores and four A53-cores. The memory would be 2GB with 16GB storage.

The smartphone is also listed having a 16Mpixels camera. Screens over 6" are rare, Huawei released a P8max just last year and I think Sony released an Xperia Z a couple of years ago with a 6.4" screen.

Nothing new under the sun.

This dude "enjoyed" his hacked Samsung galaxy tab 7 inch tablet to make phone calls in Nov 2010:

Chinese manufacturer releasing 6plus inch phone seems to be a proper example of paradox.

You guys can laugh all you want. My 6.3" Samsung MEGA was an absolutely amazing phone-ish/Tablet-ish/Phablet-ish phone.

Only reason I sold it/changed it, it was because of getting a "faster/better" phone, performance/hardware wise(Sammy GNote 3).

If they had ever released a MEGA 2 I would probably had gotten it. Games, browsing and multimedia on that phone was an absolute dream!

Bendphone 2.0

But on technical side of things. Why does it has 4x A53 cores which are low power efficient and only 2x A72 high performance (less efficient) cores?

It looks like hexa-core on paper, but I would prefer 2x A53 + 4x A72. As low power mode does not require 4cores, but would prefer to have performance when I need it.

+ there is A57.
