XFX Radeon R9 280X Double Dissipation caught on camera
It seems that photo's of the upcoming XFX Radeon R9 280X Double Dissipation graphics card have appeared on the web. Reportedly in a post on the leaking website the specs that go along with it make it look like an updated Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (Tahiti XT) as it comes with 2048 stream processors, 128 TMUs, 32 ROPs, 3GB GDDR5 memory, and a 384-bit memory bus.
The card is equipped with a large aluminium fin array cooled by two 100mm fans. Pricing of this non-reference card is anticipated to be around $299 - $329. The card is equipped with five display outputs: HDMI, two mini-DisplayPorts and two DVIs. According to XFX their R9 280X will support DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.2 and OpenCL 1.2.

I hope so too, I really like this refreshed GPU, unlocked and should be as fast as a 780 with few tweaks.
After the the problems XFX cards had with the 7000 series I'm wary to consider them this time around. I have owned XFX products in the past however and found them to work as intended. Lets hope they've upped their game and start releasing quality products again with the new series.

280X is lower clocked.
280X is lower clocked.
AMD Radeon R9 280X with TAHITI XT
Starting from Radeon R9 280X, apparently this is a pure HD 7970 GHz Edition refresh, only with slower clocks. What is interesting is that both R9 280X and HD 7970 GHz Edition will be priced similar, around £230 ($299). The R9 280X will make use of full Tahiti XT GPU with 2048 cores, 128 texture units and 32 ROPs. Of course there’s 3GB GDDR5 384-bit memory on board. This card will be available starting from late October.
