Microsoft aims to deliver a new version of Windows every three years, based on insider information. This means that Windows 12 will be out in the autumn of 2024.

A significant upgrade to Windows should be published every three years, according to the new strategy. Meanwhile, Microsoft intends to provide minor upgrades for the existing version more often. It used to take three years for a new version of Windows to be released. For example, Windows 7 debuted three years after Windows Vista. Then came Windows 8, followed by Windows 10 in 2015.

With the release of Windows 10, Microsoft seemed to abandon the three-year pattern. The business concentrated on updating the operating system and provided substantial upgrades twice a year. When Windows 11 was released last year, the policy for Windows 10 and 11 was changed to allow for one major upgrade each year. Customers may now anticipate updates up to four times a year, according to Windows Central. Microsoft has not said anything about its intentions.
