It used to take three years for a new version of Windows to be released. For example, Windows 7 debuted three years after Windows Vista. Then came Windows 8, followed by Windows 10 in 2015.

With the release of Windows 10, Microsoft seemed to abandon the three-year pattern. The business concentrated on updating the operating system and provided substantial upgrades twice a year. When Windows 11 was released last year, the policy for Windows 10 and 11 was changed to allow for one major upgrade each year.
