A new Chromium project seems to poin to the fac that Windows 10 users in the near future can login to their computer with their Google account. The Chromium project provides support to Google Chrome for the credential providers feature of Windows 10.

Credential providers allow users to login to Windows 10 through  e.g. a password or biometric authentication. Third-parties can develop their own credential provider and register it with  Windows 10. After that, the third-party authentication process can be used to login to the operating system. It appears that Google is planning to register its Chrome browser as credential manager for Windows 10.

The Chromium code that now has been posted suggests that users can log in to Windows 10 through their G-Suite account. It’s possible that also regular Google accounts will be supported.

At the moment it’s unclear if and when Google will roll-out its credential provider feature. Currently the project is still in the first stages of development.
