Uber Green MSI geForce GT 220

It is not exactly the spicy videocard you want in your PC for gaming, but MSI released the N220GT-MD1G Green Version, the new video card, as its name implies, is focused on power efficiency. Since such low-profile cards usually end up in HTPCs or other types of small form-factor computers (like nettops), they make a point of consuming as little power and producing as little noise as possible.

The MSI GT220 does not use a passive cooler, which means makes us think its power consumption is not quite as low as it could have been. On the other hand, the GPU itself consumes 17% less energy than the reference 40nm GT216 chip and the cooler has a very low sound output. This will greatly contribute to immersion during the playback of multimedia files.

The new MSI N220GT-MD1G Green Version has 48 processing cores, 1GB of DDR2 memory running at 800MHz, a shader frequency of 1360MHz and the GPU set at 625Mhz. As for the feature set, the card supports CUDA, PhysX, DirectX 10.1 and it has a memory interface of 128 bits.

The video board may connect to a display via DVI and HDMi connectors. An actual official announcement hasn't exactly been made, which is why it isn't completely clear when the new device will start selling. According to tcmagazine, however, MSI's product should end up priced at under 60 Euro.
