Three eVGA Z68 Motherboards

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/08/2011 08:36 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

EVGA prepped three z68 motherboards, a micro ATX board, a regular-sized ATX model and even an EATX platform.

The Z68 FTW is the flagship, with an oversized frame that will only fit inside the biggest of computer enclosures.
It comes with six PCI Express x16 slots, along with a number of jumpers that can disable one or more of them.

This large device also comes with 12-phase PWM and a pair of 8-pin CPU power connectors, plus an angled 24-pin power plug and triple BIOS, sealing its status as enthusiast-grade product.

EVGA went ahead and threw in four DDR3-2133 memory slots, a pair of SATA 6.0 Gbps ports, four SATA 3.0 Gbps connectors, dual Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, 7.1 channel audio and eSATA, plus a debug LED and Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons.

With some differences, the other two motherboards share most of the above features, although the Z68 SLI Micro has a single Gigabit Ethernet port. The real difference comes in the number of PCI Express slots, two on the SLI Micro and three on the Z68 SLI.

Still, true to their names, all three support multi-GPU configurations, and this extends to CrossFireX capabilities (for AMD video boards), not just SLI (for NVIDIA cards).

The Z68 SLI has a price tag of $209.99, while the Z68 SLI Micro is listed for $159.99. Finally, the Z58 FTW has a tag of $264.99 and even sells in a bundle with the real-time CPU frequency reporting software EVGauge, as well as the voltage tweaking and temperature monitoring software ECP V4, for $299.99.
