The Intel Core i9-12900K has been added to the Basemark database.
And that's an unannounced Alder Lake processor of course, a flagship even. The Intel Core i9-12900K, the pinnacle of Intel's forthcoming Alder Lake processors, has been added to the Basemark database, according to the company. This is expected to be the top-of-the-line CPU among Intel's forthcoming Alder Lake-S processors.
According to the entry information, the Core i9-12900K processor we tested has twelve cores operating at a base speed of 3.2 GHz and a boost clock that was not specified. In fact, the i9-12900K should have a corresponding 24 threads, however, it has 16 cores onboard due to the way the processor is designed. So it does not seem that this information is accurate. The CPU should have eight Golden Cove cores with SMT and eight Gracemont cores without SMT, for a total of twenty-four threads.
Many testing software packages split the number of threads by two, which is most likely why things go wrong. In this particular instance, this is inaccurate, resulting in the number of cores being shown erroneously in the program. That was already the case with the i7-12700K processor before it. However, there is something else that does not seem to be quite right. The video card in the tested system is most likely an RTX 3080 card, however, Sapphire is listed as a brand, a company that exclusively produces AMD graphics cards.
