Qualification samples (QS) for AMD EPYC 7773X processors have already arrived on Taobao, where they can be purchased for as little as $2,823.97 USD.

AMD announced the EPYC Milan-X CPUs with 3D V-Cache in November, and the chips are now in production and available for purchase. Even though AMD did not provide a specific release date for Milan-X, the company did state that the chip would be available in the first quarter of 2022, which explains how qualifying samples were able to make their way onto the black market.

Milan-X is equipped with the same Zen 3 cores as Milan, which are manufactured on TSMC's 7nm manufacturing node. With 64 cores, 128 threads, and 256MB of L3 cache as the maximum configuration, the flagship SKU will keep its position as the best of the best. The addition of a 3D-stacked L3 cache is the most noticeable modification, increasing the total amount of accessible memory per processor to 768MB. With a power consumption of 280W, the EPYC 7773X can operate at a base speed of 2.2 GHz and a boost speed of 3.5 GHz. Thus, the specs of the chip do not match those of the retail model, as indicated by this. As stated in the seller's description, the Taobao merchant reported a 2.1 gigahertz base clock, which is 100 megahertz slower than reference standards, and an unknown boost clock speed. It will not be covered by a warranty because it is a non-commercial qualifying sample and hence not a commercial product.

Milan-X will be released this quarter and will not necessitate the installation of any additional drivers. In the case of a recipe that is comparable to Milan, Milan-X will be compatible with the existing SP3 socket. In the near future, it is expected that a firmware upgrade will be all that is necessary to get the new EPYC processors up and running, and that this will be the case.
