Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed his views on subscription models, such as Game Pass, during a meeting with the company's shareholders. The director of a large game publisher, who has worked on titles such as Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, feels that the approach is unsuitable for significant releases.

Take Two announced their financial results for the previous quarter on Tuesday, and Zelnick also spoke briefly on subscription models such as Game Pass during the presentation. The publisher's director stated that he believes these subscription models are appropriate for consumers seeking a wide library of titles, but that they are less appropriate for front-line products due to their high cost.

'Very occasionally,' he says, Take Two titles may be added to this type of catalog in the future, and he points out that this has actually occurred in the past. Last year, Red Dead Redemption 2 and NBA 2K20 were both included in the Game Pass membership for a limited period of time. Take Two follows in the footsteps of GTA V. Today, it was revealed that Gaming Pass, the game subscription service, would be discontinued on August 8. The 2013 game was only available as part of the subscription for a short period of time. Later this year, a new version of Grand Theft Auto V for the Xbox One X and PlayStation 5 will be launched, including improved visuals.
