Synology found that cybercriminals crafted fraudulent domains that look like Synology domain names in an attempt to redirect Synology users to a phishing site where they were tricked into transferring money to a designated account which has nothing to do with Synology.
Synology has reported such matter to the domain name registrar, Google, and LiveChat provider, Zendesk, and the malicious domains (synologlogin.com & routerrsynology.com) have been taken down accordingly.
Synology recommends the following actions to ensure online security.
- Make sure you're visiting Synology's legitimate registered domains: synology.com and synology.cn
- Don't click on unknown links or offer your personal account and payment information
- When encountering unclear situations, please verify the details via Synology's official channels
