Sony Introduces Xperia Z2-smartphone that can record 4k-video

Over at MWC in Barcelona Sony has announced a  Z2-smartphone that can record in a whopping 4k resolution. The Smarktphone will get a 5.2" screen with Full HD resolution (1920x1080). The Xperia Z2 will get a 20.7 MegaPixel camera with 1/2.3-type Exmor RS-sensor and Sony's G-lens.

The image processor is based on Bionz that Sonay also uses for their cameras. The SoC (Processor) in use is the new Snapdragon 801 quadcore that runs at a 2.3 Ghz clock frequency combined with a Adreno 330 GPU. The Z2 will get 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The Android KitKat based phone will have LTE support and a battery capacity of 3300 mAh. Just like other Xperia Z models, this phone will be dust and water-proof based on IP 55/58. Sone delivers a noise canceling headset with the smartphone, it'll be available in April with the price to be announced.

And a lot of us Z1 users are hoping 4k video recording will come to the Z1 as well.. But there may be some sort of hardware limitation in that regard. 4K video recording was in Z1 test devices but sony stripped it for some reason. :(

Or move the file to a 4K TV and watch it there? ..

4K on a smartphone=waste of time and resources. The recording time will be severely limited, regardless of the memory card used. Do 1080P or ever 720P videos shot on a smartphone look ANYWHERE near as good as a stand alone video camera? Not even close in fact when I see a smartphone ramp up 1080P shooting (even the iPhone) I laugh, so why would 4K be any different. Cute Sony, but stop trying to be like Samsung and one-up each other with stupid features that excite people because they are bigger numbers. 4K is a professional standard, not consumer.....

well d'oh of course it ain't as good but you will get really decent videos with them smartphones. Any dedicated thing will win over one that is for everything.
