SilverStone releases ultra low NVMe / SATA compatible M.2-PCI-Express conversion adapter

SilverStone released an ultra-low profile M.2-PCI-Express conversion adapter ECM28 compatible with NVMe and SATA devices (m2)

The height is 32 mm when an M-Key compatible M.2 2280 slot with PCI Express (x4) connection is mounted on one side of the board and a B-Key compatible M.2 2280 slot with SATA 3.0 connection is mounted on the other. Despite the ultra-low profile design, two M.2 SSDs may be mounted. It also accommodates 1U rack mount servers. The comparable form factor is M.2 2230/2242/2260/2280, with exterior dimensions of 15.5mm, 32mm, 118.4mm, and 17.8g. Each slot is equipped with an LED indicator that allows you to know the power supply and access status.

Looks like it could be made a whole inch shorter but otherwise I like the compactness.

If anything I think it should be longer to accommodate 22110 m.2s if they're aiming to fit in 1U servers.

How is the performance using this via PCIe as opposed to a dedicated slot on the MOBO.

If i had to wager a guess.... I'd have to say it probably wouldn't take TOO much of a hit, performance wise. Whether it's a dedicated slot on the motherboard or using this adapter, it's still running on PCI-Express lanes. Unless it's NOT actually running on the PCI-Express lanes and that's why the SATA port is there, which would be a stupid reason to even have it using a PCI-Express 4x slot.... then there would be a pretty drastic performance hit....

Thanks, i run 3 x NVMe drives in my ARock Taichi x570, one of the reasons i got this MOBO and a dealbreaker for whatever x670 board i get.
OS and Progs on one (1TB Gen 4)
Steam folder on another (2TB Gen 4)
Other games on the third (1TB Gen 4).
I have a 2TB SSD attached and stuck on the back of the MOBO tray for any other storage.
