Sharp unveiled the SIM-free versions of its premium smartphones, the "AQUOS R8 pro" and "AQUOS R8," both equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. 



AQUOS R8 pro: Leica Camera and Enhanced Performance

The "AQUOS R8 pro" is a SIM-free variant of the model previously released by a major carrier in July, maintaining consistent basic specifications. Notably, this version features a remarkable camera system co-developed with Leica, boasting a 1-inch sensor camera that includes a 14-channel spectrum sensor. This camera setup provides exceptional image quality and advanced photographic capabilities.

The smartphone boasts a 6.6-inch Pro IGZO OLED display with a resolution of 2,730 x 1,260 pixels. Its display supports a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 Hz to an impressive 240 Hz. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, coupled with 12 GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. To keep things running smoothly, a 5,000 mAh battery is onboard. The operating system is Android 13, and Sharp guarantees OS updates up to three times within three years from the release date.

AQUOS R8: Superior Camera and Performance

The SIM-free version of the "AQUOS R8" maintains performance parity with the carrier model. This smartphone incorporates a powerful camera system, featuring a sizeable 1/1.55-inch image sensor and a "Hector" lens supervised by Leica. The 6.4-inch Pro IGZO OLED display, with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels, supports a variable refresh rate of 1 Hz to 240 Hz. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is paired with 8 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage, all powered by a 4,570 mAh battery. The device is designed to meet the MIL-STD-810G standard, ensuring a rugged build quality.
