AMD will present at Computex next week, and it appears that the company will introduce at least three chipsets for its future AM5 platform.

This news is highly speculative, as we don't know if processors will be included in the actual announcement, but industry insiders are mentioning that AMD will offer three different CPUs for the AM5 platform at launch. The three new chips would be the X670E, X670, and B650. The names have been floating on Twitter for at least a few weeks, but there has been no verifiable verification, and the X670E popped out of nowhere around a week ago. the source of this rumor is techpowerup:

We can now tell you that the X670E will be a special SKU where the E stands for Extreme. Based on the information we’ve managed to source, it doesn’t seem to differ from the X670 chipset in terms of functionality or features. However, all X670E motherboards must offer PCIe 5.0 connectivity to both the GPU and the M.2 NVMe SSD slot or possibly slots, whereas X670 based motherboards can use PCIe 4.0 instead […]

It is speculated that the X670E will be a limited edition model, with the E standing for Extreme. All X670E motherboards are expected to support PCIe 5.0 for both the GPU and the M.2 slot for future NVMe SSDs, while X670-based motherboards should support PCIe 4.0 in case motherboard manufacturers decide to produce a more profitable product. The speculation of a dual chipset configuration seems genuine; the X670E and X670 motherboards will feature two Promontory 21 chips (two AMD B650 chipsets (Promontory 21) packaged together) the B650 motherboards will have a single Promontory 21 chip.

Unfortunately, no details on the type of connectivity will be provided for the time being, although the partner for AMD chipsets remains ASMedia. I guess we'll learn more next week.

Update:

Gigabyte's Computex 2022 participation will focus on "Power of Computing," according to a press release. The business will debut its new AMD X670 motherboards. Next-gen AM5 chipset is X670. The new series uses Zen4/Raphael-based Ryzen 7000 CPUs. AMD has confirmed the LGA1718 socket and DDR5 and PCIe Gen5 functionality for the X670 series. Gigabyte listed all motherboards that will be presented, including X670 AORUS Xtreme, X670 AORUS Master, X670 AORUS Pro AX and X670 AERO D:

[…] Moreover, the latest AMD Socket AM5 motherboards including the gaming series of X670 AORUS XTREME, MASTER, PRO AX, and X670 AERO D for designers will be first exposed in this exhibition as well. Users can take a sneak peek at the advanced design and extensive features of PCIe 5.0 graphics slot and M.2 Gen5 interface on GIGABYTE motherboards.
