Review: MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X TRIO

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/30/2020 10:51 AM | source: | 22 comment(s)

MSI submitted their beefed-up Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card for review, this one is a bit more special though as it has been outfitted in the Gaming X TRIO style. Yes, you'll see proper cooling applied to the primary GPU area. The end result is a graphics card that looks both stunning and is notably silent as well.

The card will become available on December 8th for 999 USD.

Wait I thought it was 850 ???
Reference 6900XT pricing for this is going to be very tough to recommend and then the 3080's too at less of a cost. Hmm.

Nice review though but that's a surprise alright.

EDIT: Yeah it's going to be like a 1000 Euro here but that synchronizes with the VAT and pricing on the 6000 series AMD and 3000 series NVIDIA in Europe and still aligns it with the custom 3080's or reference 6900's (Wherever those are. ~ ) possibly some cheaper custom 6800XT's too.

Going to be tough against 3080Ti too potentially even if it's likely going to be a touch more expensive but might justify it by being faster still.

EDIT: Oh there's the 849(.99) USD pricing a bit further down on the product page.
Yeah I was reading the summary of the RDNA2 cards before so that was the 6900 pricing whoops.

Still costly but less extreme at least. :D
Complicated a bit by AMD pricing the reference cards lower, can't be easy for these custom variants trying to at least earn some profit while not being overly expensive against those.
(Especially as AMD extended the product lifetime of the reference cards into Q1 2021 at least due to demand.)

Like that time Sapphire I think it was made the Vega 64 customs Nitro+ I believe and priced it like 200$ above reference because the mining boom. :p
(More evenly matched with the 5700 pricing after that at least.)

Lucky for you if you can get 3080 around 900 Euro, they are all over 1200...
With the empty stock it make also the low end going up: 1030 at over 100, 5500XT at 299 (199 Euro before the stock crisis)...
Come on AMD, NVidia and partners , don't you look at the news? most people gain 2/3 of what they usualy gain due to covid, and some have lost their job... how can they affort that prices.
