Review: Intel Core i5-11400F processor

We again descend from eight towards six processor cores and twelve threads, this round with the Core i5 11400F, a processor that might be considered the most high-grade value for money in the Rocket Lake-S range from Intel with a listed price of roughly 157 USD.

It's funny how this CPU is as good for gaming as 500-600€ ones, even when paired with a 3090. People really like to pay too much for flagship CPUs nowadays, when 150€ one can do the job just fine.

Have you both read the conclusion from Hilbert? When full utilization during gaming without limits it consumes the most power from all CPUs.

My conclusion: For an all day hard-core edge gamer, this will eat both the dust and electricity faster than more expensive ones. So, from me, it is a huge NO unless you keep it purely at stock /w default BIOS settings and play with mid-ranged GPUs as a mid-range CPU this is.

I had that mindset when i got my broken 5800X.

Now i know i don't need such a CPU for just Gaming.

Im still in favor getting an 8core even if your gaming only. CPU utilization in some of the newer games are quite high on these 6cores and dont forget that Hillbert review only shows the average framerate.
For a piece of mind and futureproof i would still go with 10700/11700 or 5800x.
