QNAP Outs TS-431KX NAS with Quad-Core SOC and 10GigE

QNAP is launching a new NAS for the SOHO domain, the 4-bay NAS (TS-431KX) was fitted with a 1.7GHz quad-core SoC called AnnapurnaLabs AL-214.

So I had to look that up, but AnnapurnaLabs AL-214, Annapurna Labs is an Israel-based microelectronics company that was acquired by Amazon.com for its Amazon Web Services division. The SOCs are mainly based ion ARM CPU cores.

The network interface consists of 3 jacks, 10 Gigabit LAN x1 (SFP+) and Gigabit LAN x2. The NAS is equipped with a "snapshot" function that protects the data by completely recording the NAS status and metadata. If you accidentally delete a file, you can quickly restore it. The RAID function supports 0/1/5/6/10 as well as JBOD and Single, and also supports "Hybrid Backup Sync" (HBS) that backs up data to another QNAP NAS, remote server, or cloud storage. The main specifications are DDR3L 2GB (maximum 8GB) for memory, 512MB flash ROM for storage, and USB 3.2 Gen.1 x 3 for interface.

The main body size is 160 mm in width, 219 mm in depth, 161 mm in height, and 2.03 kg in weight. Cooling fan is 120mmx1 (19.5dBA), power supply is 90W AC adapter drive, power consumption is 11.65W during sleep, 26.7W during operation. The price is roughly 399 USD.

as a customer (8-bay) they also cut down the quality in recent products, my old nearly all metal QNAP was near silent, the new enclosures are all plastic and you hear the drives noticeably more
I dropped it and made my own server after watching a Linus video, it's much larger but also better

you can make such a better NAS by building it yourself. These prebuilt ones are always so over priced.
