Graphics card sales accounted for 700,000 units sold in the first quarter of this year directly to mine cryptocurrencies. That's an equivalent of 25% of the cards sold in the first quarter of 2021.

The GPUs acquired by miners and resellers, range from high-end cards to mid-range models and have a total value of 500 million Dollars. There are two types of miners, one professional who is dedicated to mining 24/7 and that is why he buys graphics cards. There are also occasional miners who invest in a setup just to mine cryptocurrencies. This makes the JPR forecasting model not as accurate as before due to a shortage of components.

In addition to the miners, the pandemic also inflated prices. Factories had to temporarily shut down and card component values rose. According to Jon Peddie Research, the increase was 70% in early 2021. How JPR draws these values and conclusions, is unknown to us.
