Plextor outs an updated SATA3.0 (6Gbps) SSD and M2 to adopt a that adopts Kioxia (Toshiba) 96-layer 3D NAND flash, the unit is tagged under the M8V Plus series.

There are two form factors, 2.5 inch and M.2 2280, and three models with capacities of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB are available. This is the successor model to the "M8V" series , and the NAND flash has been changed from Toshiba's 64-layer 3D TLC NAND flash to Kioxia's 96-layer 3D TLC NAND flash. As a result, the random access performance is particularly improved.

The controller is Silicon Motion "SM2258", equipped with functions such as error correction mechanism "LDPC technology" and "RAID engine" and "data shaping" that enhance the stability of data transfer. It also has unique features such as the intelligent smart cash "Plex Turbo", "Plex Compressor" that automatically compresses files that have not been opened for 30 days to improve capacity efficiency, and "Plex Vault" that protects personal data.

DRAM cache is DDR3 (1TB: 1,024MB, 512GB / 256GB: 512MB), transfer speed is sequential read up to 560MB / sec, write up to 520MB / sec (256GB is 510MB / sec), random read up to 90,000 IOPS (512GB / 256GB) 85,000 IOPS), write up to 88,000 IOPS (84,000 IOPS).

Write endurance is 560TBW for 1TB, 280TBW for 512GB, 140TBW for 256GB, 2.5 million hours for MTBF, and a 3-year product warranty. The 2.5-inch model has a width of 69.85 mm, a depth of 100 m, a height of 6.8 mm, and a maximum weight of 60 g. The M.2 2280 model has a width of 22 mm, a depth of 80 mm, a height of 2.30 mm, and a maximum weight of 10 g.
