OCZ next-gen Indilinx Everest controller

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 01/09/2012 02:28 PM | source: | 0 comment(s)

I've always wondered what would happen if SandForce would be bought out, which it did my LSI. And all of the sudden we see OCZ make a tremendous shift to the controller company they bought, Indlilinx.

Recently OCZ launched the Octane, which we reviewed here. But over at CES OCZ is already showing the 2nd generation Indilinx controller. The new Everest 2 controller carries codename IDX400M00-BC and is targeted to deliver sequential read/write speeds of up to 550/500 MB/s. That's a definite improvement over the current generation specially in write performance.

However the controller is specced for 90,000 4 KB random write IOPS, end of Q2 we should already see products released. Hmmz, Computex time anyone ?
