Nvidia Set to Unveil RTX 4060 and 4050 GPUs Ahead of Schedule?

Nvidia Set to Unveil RTX 4060 and 4050 GPUs Ahead of Schedule?

Nvidia may soon release the desktop versions of the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 GPUs. The rapid release of the entire RTX 40 series could be a new record for Nvidia, as it took two years to release the entire RTX 30-series deck of cards.

The Chinese firm, Shangke Group, has reportedly submitted an ECC listing to the government which includes several GeForce GPU models, ranging from the RTX 4090 to the GTX 700 series. According to the listing,

However, these ECC listings should be taken with caution, as they only indicate a GPU is in the development stage and don't guarantee the registered names will be used. The laptop versions of the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 have already been launched, but the performance specifications and specs for the desktop versions remain unknown. Rumors suggest the RTX 4070 will have a CUDA core count matching the RTX 3070, while the 4060 Ti will have fewer cores than its predecessor and a 128-bit bus width. It appears Nvidia is prioritizing power efficiency in its mid-range cards, but performance potential for the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 remains uncertain.

Looking at the higher models, it wouldn't be a surprise if 4060 Ti and 4060 shared the same chip, both sporting the 128-bit memory bus and 8GB of memory. 8GB with a 128-bit bus would allow Nvidia to use only four memory chips, which would direcly boost the profit margin. The GPU chips themselves will be tiny. The cards will most probably be more expensive than the predecessors for the gamers to buy, despite not being any more expensive to manufacture, I imagine. They might be even cheaper for Nvidia/AIB partners to make.

At this point I'm pretty sure people only are wondering about the price... we know where they go performance wise, I take it.

They didn't clear Ampere, but the market has collapsed and they can't wait any longer for it to pick up.

This is the problem with Nvidia, they have basically made budget level cards £500/600 base entry prices so they can starts from that base, as they simple do not want to give up those tasty mining gpu prices, so they need to find a way to artificially up the price, so they raise the price of budget and then just crank up the prices for mid and high while thinking we all have straw hanging out of our ears. lol
