A new video called 'The Remarkable Art & Science of Modern Graphics Card Design' just went online from NVIDIA, they talk about designing a graphics card, cooling as well as power. In the video, NVIDIA talks in specific the new 12-pin power connector and also shows a GPU (but do not conclude anything from that).

Overall the video talks about the four stages behind design a graphics card with heat being a primary challenge. The video shows designs of the PCB, that confirms the irregular shapes you have seen.

The photos that leaked of the new Founder Edition card and cooler are now confirmed. Another segment of the video talks about cross-talk as well as that new 12-pin power connector. The drawing you see mentioned an 'included adapter', so yes that unusual design is going to add on the overall cost. The connector is 300W capable, add to that 75 Watt and you are looking at a 375 Watt total board power design. E.g. the RTX 3090 seems to sit in a 250 to 300 Watt range TDP wise.

The teaser video also shows a GPU but we do not want to draw any conclusions there for now. Below the video, which is your typical marketing gobble.
