The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, equipped with the AD107 GPU, has been subjected to extensive analysis by numerous evaluators and contrasts them with the RTX 3060 12GB and 3060 8GB models.

The RTX 4060 marks the debut of the AD107 GPU in desktop graphics cards. It mirrors previous models in aspects such as the 128-bit memory bus and the PCIe Express 4.0 8x interface. These elements, in conjunction with memory capacity, are fundamental factors in the selection of a contemporary GPU. According to NVIDIA, the RTX 4060 non-Ti is particularly tailored for 1080p gaming. For gamers utilizing 1440p monitors, previous generation GPUs with larger memory and bus configurations like the RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT might be more appropriate.

Performance Contrast: GeForce RTX 4060 vs. 3060 12GB vs. 3060 8GB

  • Speed Way: +16.6% / +58.4%
  • Port Royal: +17.2% / +30.7%
  • TimeSpy: Performance: +30.3% / +55.3%
  • Extreme: +32.7% / +61.1%
  • FireStrike Performance: +19.8% / +38.0%
  • Extreme: +23.4% / +41.8%
  • Ultra: +19.4% / +50.0%

In 3DMark evaluations, the RTX 4060 outperforms the RTX 3060 12GB by an average of 22.8%, and the 8GB Ampere SKU by 47.9%. While a direct comparison between the RTX 4060 and its 8GB precursor would be justifiable, NVIDIA's official comparison uses the original 12GB SKU. Nonetheless, the emphasis has shifted towards the promotion of DLSS3 and Frame Generation technology, making these comparisons less relevant for previous generations. The evaluations were carried out using the preceding 536.20 driver, while the current official version is 536.23. NVIDIA has scheduled a new driver release for June 29th, which will extend support for the RTX 4060 non-Ti.
