New Battlefield V game would take place in World War II Setting
Over at GamesBeat, part of the VentureBeat they write that the next Battlefield release would be situated in a Second World War setting. They mention that the info is derived based upon anonymous sources close to Electronic Arts.
The new iteration would be called Battlefield V, which is based on a leaked screenshot via Reddit. So that would follow up Battlefield 4 released back in in 2013. Just like World War I got a sequel, Battlefield 1 is getting a followup later this year. The game is Battlefield V which was previously known as Battlefield 2 internally at EA.
Battlefield V will return the series to World War II in a main entry for the first time since 2009’s Battlefield 1943, GamesBeat has learned from sources familiar with EA’s plans. These sources wish to remain anonymous. The reason for the game’s title is a bit of a mystery. Internally, Battlefield V was known as “Battlefield 2.” That would’ve made sense and kept with the naming convention adopted in 2016. Battlefield 1 transported players to World War I, so a game set in World War II could logically be named Battlefield 2. Perhaps DICE didn’t want to confuse longtime players, though. A 2005 entry in the series was titled Battlefield 2.

Came here just to say that after buying many Battlefields I will not be buying BF V. So many DLC's with BF1 and when I bought the DLC there were no people on servers! Luckily for one of the DLC's I got a refund. 2142 and BF3 is where my sentiments lay and were not replaced by newer titles. Time to let it go.

Yeah well, naming problems were bound to happen everything considered. At least they didn't call it battlefield ww2...
Personally I am rather happy that they chose this setting, I mean they have the whole infrastructure from BF1 ready, so they have far less work on their plate and less things that they could mess up. I would have been way more concerned if they went for a futuristic setting.
Now let's hope they will focus on map designs and game modes balancing! If they do the guns and time to kill like in the latest BF1 patch, it's good enough.

Well it’s a battlefield game... guess it’s more like bad company though and just not part of the “main series”.

Whelp, there goes a naming structure... Since V doesn't make a lot of sense... then again naming never made much sense to them... BF 1942, BF2, BF2142, BF3, BF4, BF Hardline, BF1 now BFV (or 5)... Kinda miss BF2142 honestly
