MSI launches Radeon RX 480 GAMING X 4G and 8G

First things first, a sample is already here and Unwinder is working on a beta for overclock support ;) Right that said, MSI is launching the Radeon RX 480 GAMING X 8G and 4G cards. Both are fitted with a TWIN FROZR VI thermal and come with 8-pin power connector.

The new levels of cool allow for higher core and memory speeds for increased performance in games up to 1440p and VR. The recognizable shapes of the eye-catching TWIN FROZR cooler are intensified by a fiery red GAMING glow piercing through the cover, while the MSI GAMING dragon RGB LED on the side can be set to any of 16.8 million colors to match your mood or build. A completely new custom 8-phase PCB design using Military Class 4 components with an 8-pin power connector enables higher overclocking performance to push your graphics card to the max. The classy matte black solid metal backplate gives the card more structural strength and provides a nice finishing touch.

MSI's new TWIN FROZR VI Thermal Design raises the bar of Graphics Card air cooling. TORX Fan 2.0 is the enhanced version of the patented MSI TORX Fan technology which generates 22% more air pressure for better cooling performance while further reducing noise levels. Connected to the huge heatsink are up to 8mm thick copper heat pipes with a squared shape at the bottom for optimal heat transfer from the solid nickel-plated copper baseplate combined with premium thermal compound X to keep the Polaris powerhouse cool.

I'm curios to know if I'll be able to unlock the 8GB of VRAM with the 4GB model. I'm assuming not.

Yawn. Am I the only one that thinks all of MSI stuff just looks to similar and now boring between GPU sides and GPUS.

They are very nice though. But just dont stand out to me like MSI stuff used too.

Do aesthetics mean that much to you for a piece of hardware you'll probably never look at again or see once installed in your PC? I prefer good performance, cooling and quiet cards which is something MSI has gotten down pretty well with their design. Why change it if it works?

Considering I sit right next to my pc, which has a side window, aesthetics matter as well.

XFX cards IMHO looked way better for the R9 series then MSI cards have lately.
Thats my opinion. Plus I dont spend hours building a nice rig to hide it away and am even lucky to have what I have as a RIG anyways. To me, thats like building a bad ass show car or race car and just leaving it in the garage.
