Mobile GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Mobile Specifications Leak
Whoops, they did it again. That would be leaks at manufacturers. Meet the soon to be announced GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 for Mobile, all based on the 8nm Ampere architecture.
The notebook flagship will be the GeForce RTX 3080 Mobile, expected to feature a GA104-775 GPU, offering 6144 shader cores and clocked at up to 1.7 GHz, depending on the model of course MaxQ etc. The GPU would be paired in 8 and 16GB of GDDR6 memory, and has a TDP of 115-150W. The GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile is getting 5120 shader cores based on the GA104-770 GPU. Here the maximum clock is 1.62 MHz paired with 8GB of GDDR6 memory and a TDP sitting at 115-125W.

Good things always come in threefold, the GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile would feature 3072 shader cores, although the GPU specs have not been further specified. This card is expected to feature 6GB GDDR6 memory and a 192-bit memory bus, just like the previous generation Turing model. Consumption for the RTX 3060 Mobile would be 80-115W based on a max P configuration. Nvidia is expected to announce its new generation of laptop GPUs at the CES trade show.

Mobile 3080 is a lot more cut down than expected, 8,704 down to 6,144. in theory clocks the same, but since its mobile I'd assume the boost will be lower. still for mobile and 90w that ain't to bad.
Be interesting to see the results, wonder if AMD are doing the same on their side can't remember the last ADM mobile gpu i saw was
90W is decent for the specs but holy crap that's power hungry for mobile. IMO, once you exceed 90W for the entire laptop, you might as well get a desktop.
I think AMD has had 500 series dGPUs for mobile, though they weren't very common. Most people who used AMD for mobile used the APUs or that one Intel platform with the "integrated" Vega GPU.

I think AMD has had 500 series dGPUs for mobile, though they weren't very common. Most people who used AMD for mobile used the APUs or that one Intel platform with the "integrated" Vega GPU.
90w is a lot, but when you consider the 2080 was the same wattage, it's quite impressive. personally I got away from laptop as they are often too expensive and cut down. but nice for those on the move
really 500 series, I can't say i saw them in any laptop past few years... I know they got the aPU's which are great for light gaming

Not necessarily true in many cases. Many working professionals from IT background require a workhorse in the field and go for 'Always Plugged' .. solution over having to carry a beefy desktop which they will have trouble going through with at many airports. This has been tested & proven true by most high-end laptops that include a Flagship-class GPU .. like Alienware, Asus Studio Laptops, etc etc.
The 'battery' just acts as merely a 'UPS'.

In my experience, IT professionals these days use a server for heavy lifting. If you're always connected, that makes the need of a powerful CPU even less relevant. But, we're also talking GPUs here, which very few IT pros need much of. Intel graphics are good enough for most IT pros.
There are very few professional jobs where a mobile workhorse of a laptop makes sense. In most cases where one is necessary (for example, architects on a construction site), battery life and proper cooling are a major concern.
