Microsoft Surface Hub 2 - 50.5-inch and due in 2019

Microsoft Surface Hub 2 - 50.5-inch and due in 2019

Microsoft has presented the successor to its digital whiteboard Surface Hub. The Surface Hub 2, which Microsoft will begin testing later this year and ship some time in 2019, is the successor to Surface Hub 1, which launched in March 2016.

The Surface Hub 2 is aimed at meeting rooms in companies. The new model has a 50.5 inchtouchscreen with 4K resolution. The screen can be used both vertically and horizontally, just like tablets. With special standards and wall hooks, users can turn the big screen. The interface then runs, also similar to how it happens on tablets. Multiple screens can be linked together, as one large screen or as multiple separate screens for the same user. Multiple users can log in to the Surface Hub 2 simultaneously, with a built-in fingerprint scanner. During meetings, different employees can easily display their presentation via the screen. With an accompanying pen notes can be made on the screen.

The Surface Hub 2 can also be used as a large video calling screen, thanks to a removable 4K webcam. The camera is equipped with special microphones, so that sound is captured from the entire room. If the screen is in a vertical position, the conversation partner can be seen on the screen from his waist. The Surface Hub 2 will not appear until 2019, and Microsoft has not announced a sale price yet. The first Surface Hub appeared in 2015, in sizes 55 and 84 inches, with the 55-inch version costing $ 9,000.

-- Microsoft --

Surface Hub 2 was designed from the ground up to be used by teams – to get people out of their seats, to connect and ideate, regardless of location. The new Surface Hub 2 is sleeker, more agile and more affordable to fit any workspace or work style. The gorgeous 4K+ 50.5” multi-touch display creates an inviting canvas to co-create, harnessing the power of Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Whiteboard, Office 365, Windows 10 and the intelligent cloud. The 4K cameras that rotate with the device, integrated speakers and far field mic arrays allow everyone in the meeting to feel as if they are right in the room with the rest of the group, while our standard Surface 3×2 aspect ratio means everyone has more usable space to create and collaborate.

Surface Hub 2 scales and adapts to your space through tiling up to 4 screens together in portrait or landscape view. Dynamic rotation allows you to use the best orientation for your content to help people work in the way that best suits them and the people they are collaborating with. It is also significantly easier to move around your workspaces than its predecessor. We’ve teamed up with workplace expert Steelcase to create a system of rolling stands and easy-to-use mounts to help Surface Hub 2 customers be truly mobile, gain a new perspective and capture their ideas wherever they do their best work.
