According to the company, Microsoft Flight Simulator has topped 10 million pilots, or gamers. The figure comes after the title was made available for all current platforms, including Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC via Xbox Cloud Gaming and Steam.

Given that the simulator was introduced a little over two years ago, the outcome is even more astounding for Microsoft. However, the company never stopped worrying about the game's significance, releasing 27 updates with changes to both gameplay and aesthetics over this time.

According to the firm, Microsoft Flight Simulator has over 500 million logged flights owing to its users. Furthermore, it has gone about 6,400 million kilometres. When you consider the distance it takes to travel around the Earth, it seems as though players have already completed this journey more than 10 million times. Going even further, as if they would made 200 journeys around the sun. The most recent update to Microsoft Flight Simulator was released to improve the game's performance on PCs. According to Asobo developers, the enhancements in the DirectX 12 implementation should result in the game using less VRAM to run. Furthermore, there has been an increase in interoperability with in-game accessories.

“Today we are pleased to announce that more than 10 million pilots have enjoyed the beauty and wonder of the world available on Microsoft Flight Simulator for Windows/PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Xbox consoles. We would not have achieved any of these milestones without the support of our amazing community and their continued commitment and contributions," Microsoft said.

In addition, the game now has various additional features, including the ability to fly with helicopters. This will be the first time that this sort of aircraft has been offered in one of the world's most popular simulators since 2006.
