It's a slow new day, so it's pretty pictures time. Avalanche Studios has released a new set of screenshots for Just Cause 3, showing the beautiful visuals of its upcoming current-gen only open-world title. 

The game is currently planned for a 2015 release.

Well those are some nice photoshopped screenshot. I'd prefer seeing pure ''print scrn'' screenshots, but that wouldn't be good marketing I guess.

I'm sure some of them are live-rendered cinematics. Kind of funny how games these days are so detailed that it is easier to do live renderings than it is to have separate artists work on an actual video file. The nice thing about that is it scales up nicely and saves disk space.

Anyway even if this game is half as fun as the 2nd, I'll still probably get it. There are very few games out there that I look forward to before they're released. Last time I was really excited about a game being released was part 1 of Starcraft 2. Deus Ex HR was compelling too but I didn't put that many hours into the first game. Most games just don't get me excited these days.

Not sure if you're trolling or not but what exactly is wrong with a grappling hook and a parachute? That's exactly what makes the game more fun than GTA - you start out with features that are better than cheats in most games. The game isn't supposed to be taken seriously. It's a game that knows how ridiculous it is and takes advantage of it, which makes it more fun. What personally bothers me are games that try to be realistic but have serious fundamental flaws that ruin the realism. The Far Cry series are a perfect example of this. Doesn't mean they're not fun, but I'd rather a game be "stupid" and proud of it, instead of portraying this life-like world when suddenly you can just rip a bullet from your arm in the middle of a gun fight, heal immediately, and pretend the shot to your face doesn't exist.
