Intel's 11th Gen Core "Rocket Lake" desktop processors, the first generation in five years to offer improved IPC performance, have officially been discontinued and marked as end of life.

The decision was announced in a product-change notification dated February 6, 2023, which is consistent with Intel's normal product lifecycle. Although the 11th Gen Core processors can no longer be ordered directly from Intel, there are still plenty available in the market. Intel will continue to honor product warranties for these processors, providing peace of mind for those currently using entry-level 11th Gen processors such as the i5-11400. Additionally, these users still have the option to upgrade to the 8-core i7-11700/K or the higher-performing i9-11900/K.

The discontinuation affects almost the entire 11th Gen Core desktop product stack, according to the PCN. This marks the end of an era for Intel's desktop processors and sets the stage for the next generation of products to take center stage.
