Now I was supposed to have a review on this for you guys, but Intel send out the wrong SSDs to the media :) Intel today releases the Solid-State Drive 530 Series.  The Intel SSD 530 Series is specially targeted toward consumer Ultrabooks and notebooks, All-in-One (AIO) desktops, next unit of computing (NUC), and embedded designs. 

In addition to the strong performance gains, Intel SSD 530 Series introduces new low power modes with cell phone-like standby battery life. The Intel SSD 530 Series product family paves the way for thin and light computing devices by introducing the latest M.2 form factor. M.2 form factor shrinks the total storage area enormously vs. traditional 2.5-inch form factor storage devices. 

 This is the arrival of the new 20nm MLC based 530 series for consumers, with more 530 models to follow later this quarter. Starting today the new SSD debuts in storage capacities of 80, 180, 240 and 360 GB. It will be based on the M.2 interface and is still using the (LSI) SandForce SF-2281 controller. The biggest change is to be found in the transittion of using newer NAND flash memory which now is 20nm based on MLC, coming from 25nm.
