PresentMon serves as a utility designed to analyze system latencies at the software layer. 



This tool proves invaluable in comprehending the interplay between diverse hardware components and their corresponding software, measured through performance metrics that include frame-rates and frame-times. Created by Intel engineer Jefferson Montgomery, PresentMon was publicly introduced in 2017. This technology has since evolved from a standalone SDK to a dedicated application complete with a distinctive user interface.

However, Intel maintains its commitment to supporting the PresentMon SDK for seamless integration with third-party applications. The updated Intel PresentMon beta application is now equipped with a customizable overlay that offers real-time graphing capabilities. It leverages the GPU busy performance counter, which gauges the time interval between two present moments. This interval precisely measures the time taken by the GPU to process API commands dispatched by the CPU, resulting in the generation of a specific frame.

An essential feature of PresentMon is its broad compatibility. It caters to a spectrum of GPUs, including both NVIDIA and AMD, in addition to AMD CPUs. It seamlessly supports mainstream 3D graphics APIs, encompassing DirectX, Vulkan, and OpenGL.
