Remember the Core i9 9900KS (review) with an increased all-core frequency? ? According to insiders, a new Intel Core i9-12900KS processor is now being evaluated by board partners and is expected to be released soon.

It is essentially a pre-binned SKU with an all-core (Performance core) boost clocking in at 5.2 GHz, which is 200 MHz faster than the previous generation 12900K. As previously stated, this frequency is highly dependent on the workload, and most reviews have shown that the base 12900K achieves 4.85-4.9 GHz all-core boost, which means that the 12900KS should easily achieve 5.0 GHz out of the box. This purported clock speed will propel the processor to great heights while simultaneously increasing the overall performance of the normal Core i9-12900K processor by a significant margin. Intel has devised this solution in anticipation of the release of AMD's Ryzen processors with 3D V-cache, which will put increased pressure on Intel to keep up with AMD.
