Intel acquires Nvidia developper of ray tracing and DLSS technology
Anton Kaplanyan, a former Nvidia researcher, has joined Intel. That information is available on his LinkedIn profile. He will be the Intel AXG Group's Vice President of Graphics Research.
Kaplanyan established the groundwork at Nvidia for Turing and Ampere's ray tracing capabilities, as well as for deep learning super sampling (DLSS). For example, he is the first to have 'applied machine learning to real-time graphics,' and his brainchild is real-time denoising using one sample per pixel. He was also a principal investigator in Facebook's artificial intelligence and rendering research group. While it is unknown what he will develop at Intel, it is clear that Xe Supersampling (XeSS) will be a significant effort. This is the Intel equivalent of dlss.

Hey that reminds me, wasn't Intel boasting about a gaming GPU a few years ago? Like for the 2nd or 3rd time? Why do they keep doing this?

Theyre still poaching talent to improve things from the looks of it, I hope they have something viable soon now that mining is slowly dying off if they no longer have incentive to make a gpu I'm worried they'll kill it off again
