Gigabyte shows PSU with built in UPS at Computex

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 06/04/2009 03:48 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

More Gigabyte kit is spotted at Computex, I spotted this PSU. Please understand that it still is a prototype that hopefully will make it into final design stages and thus the market. But this PSU has a built in UPS. So if there's a power failure, there's enough battery life to keep the PC alive for 2 minutes. In these two minutes the PSU can enforce a power-down Within Windows, this way no data is lost or corrupted during a power grid failure.

I think that's a brilliant idea really the trick though is to get the Wattage higher as this prototype I think was 400 Watt only. But really I love the idea here.
