Gainward GameSoul GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Specs and Screenshots
Likely there has been some sort of presentation in the Asia region. Regardless, in the previous post we already talked about the 3GB GeForce GTX 1060 cards, the specification now even get confirmed as slides from Gainward surfaced onto the web.
It was Wccftech who spotted this, but if you look at the slides you will notice everything as posted yesterday, now confirmed including the 1152 shader processors.
The 3GB units seems to have been slowed down a bit, not just in memory but a SM shader cluster is to be disabled. Normally the 1060 6GB would have 1280 shader processors, the 3GB model would get 1152 shader processors activated. The Gainward GeForce GTX 1060 GameSoul seems to get a 1518 MHz GPU base clock, with 1733 MHz boost alongside 8 Gbps memory (3GB / 192-bit). Other and even faster models can be spotted in the slides as well. Word is that in September the 3 GB version is set loose into the market in order to compete with the Radeon RX 470 and 4GB RX 480 from AMD.

Even less ram than the GTX 970 while a bit more poweful. Geez.
I'm sure there's a market for it but 3GB vram anno 2016 in a considerably powerful enough gpu?
Yeah I admit even the 6GB vram version has more than necessary vram especially without SLI capabilities but 3GB is not gonna cut it imo. Even for 1080p.
With some exceptions here and there or older games of course.
Nonetheless I'm still interested to see how it performs.
Good ol' days.

1080p more than 3gb (3gb not enough)? are you sure ?
maybe i not reading enough... but afaik, farcry4 that use massive vram is like 2.6gb on 1080p ultra... witcher3 is below 2gb on 1080p ultra
most games using like 1.7gb (below 2gb) at 1080p
so i wonder how many games that use more than 3gb at 1080p ?
on 1440p above, i do agree that 3gb probably not cut it

well, Rise of Tomb Raider uses ~3.6GB on my 1080p tv, luckily my 3.5GB of a card is not showing signs of hitching in that game. There're also Shadow of Mordor & Lord of the Fallen that uses more than 3 GB when using ultra textures even in 1080p.
vram req is getting demanding nowdays even though it's somewhat not showing significant visual differences compare to last gen games...

This makes me think of back in the day when we got the 8800gts 320mb and 640mb, Well needless to say the 320mb was not very future proof.
