EA makes a bold statement: No new Battlefield for ‘a couple of years’

So EA is not planning a new Battlefield game for the coming years, not even 2018 will see a new Battlefield. Quite surprising as Battlefield 1 might be the best selling PC gaming title in 2016.

Speaking at the Nasdaq 35th Investor Program earlier today, Jorgensen stated that EA "won't have another Battlefield back for a couple of years. Next year we'll have Battlefront, the Star Wars game." EA exec Blake Jorgensen, who always seems to be talking out of turn when it comes to this sort of thing, has told investors that, ‘We won’t have another Battlefield back for a couple of years, next year we’ll have Battlefront, the Star Wars game’.

A couple of years is a vaguer term than it sounds when you take into account financial, rather than just calendar years, so a new Battlefield in late 2018 isn’t out of the question. But that doesn’t seem to be what he’s implying.

Although they haven’t said anything about it yet, EA has already confirmed that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be out next year. And it would be impossible to imagine that it wouldn’t tackle the new sequel trilogy of films – with Episode VIII due out next Christmas. The game will be "much bigger" and "much more exciting" than last year's title, and that the publisher is trying to address criticism over the original game's amount of content.

‘We’re taking that criticism to heart as we’re building the next game, and we’re trying to address any of the issue that it had’, he said according to website DualShockers.

Well they got Battlefront II coming in 2017 so that is kind of a BF game, just with different skins.

Not a bad thing. Take some years off and come back with a bang.

Good, they shouldn't release a new game every year.
