In a recent shareholder meeting, CD Projekt RED provided insights into the progress of their ongoing initiatives. One key highlight was the revelation that approximately 260 developers are actively engaged in the creation of the highly anticipated game, 'The Witcher 4'.

For context, this workforce size ranks as the second-largest, closely trailing the 300 developers working on finalizing the 'Phantom Liberty' DLC for 'Cyberpunk 2077'.

CEO Adam Kicinski emphasized the consistent strength of the core team since late 2022. He underscored that the team dedicated to 'The Witcher 4', internally dubbed 'Polaris', has expanded its membership to around 260 professionals as of July. Kicinski also indicated that, following the completion of 'Phantom Liberty', a substantial portion of its development team would transition to support the ongoing work on 'Polaris'.

Announced in March 2022, 'The Witcher 4' stands as the next installment in the revered 'The Witcher' series, marking the initiation of a new open-world RPG trilogy. The game serves as CD Projekt RED's inaugural project utilizing the Unreal Engine 5. While it is expected to introduce fresh lead characters distinct from previous entries, in-depth plot details remain undisclosed. Notably, there is speculation regarding the potential introduction of an entirely new school of magic. Given the expansive scope of this forthcoming title, the studio envisions an extended development timeline, with subsequent sequels tentatively slated for release at two-year intervals.

Beyond 'The Witcher 4', CD Projekt RED is concurrently working on remastering the original 'The Witcher' game. This remaster is scheduled for release after the launch of the fourth game. The project aims to leverage the technological advancements developed during the creation of the upcoming game, showcasing a commitment to enhancing the gaming experience.
