Dell to offer U2917W and U3417W UltraWide Monitors
Dell has two new UltraWide offerings on the shelves for us, the U2917W is a 29” screen with 2560 x 1080 resolution and the U3417W with an even steeper curvature compared to the previous model (1900R) at 3440 x 1440.
Both monitor panels are 21:9 and thus fall in the UltraWide catagory. The panels are based on LG AH-IPS and this run at a native 60Hz refresh rate with 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles as reported on pcmonitors.info. Specs wise you are looking at a 1000:1 static contrast and flicker-free WLED backlights with a maximum luminance of 300 cd/m².The 29” model is true 8-bit with a factory calibration with a DeltaE <2. Meanwhile, the 34” model feautures 8-bit + 2-bit FRC dithering (10-bit effective) and a promised Delta E <3. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified for the smaller model and 6ms is specified for the larger model.
The stands offer tilt, height and swivel adjustment and are attached to the rear of the screen using a quick-release bracket mechanism. A 100 x 100mm VESA hole mount is present. Display outputs are DisplayPort 1.2, mini-DisplayPort 1.2, DisplayPort 1.2 out (for MST ‘Daisy Chaining’), 2 HDMI 1.4 ports, 4 USB 3.0 ports (2 with DC 1.2 charging for connected devices) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 x 9W speakers are included on the 34” model, too.
More information on the 29” model (Chinese, translation required) and 34” model can be found on various regional Dell websites. The 34” model can be found for around $1000 in the US. Further pricing details to be confirmed. Provided there’s sufficient interest we will consider reviewing at least one of these models.

I have a feeling we'll finally see some Dell high-end gaming monitors sometime next year. At least I hope so.

I know 'gamers' demand more and more PPI but I would like a few more 34" 1080 monitors as Samsung and LG seem to be the only ones to offer that. Dell or AOC and I would probably be sold.
