George Makris, Corsair's DIY Marketing Director, recently acknowledged in a video that DDR5 memory may "perhaps run significantly hotter than DDR4" owing to voltage control being transferred from the motherboard to the memory modules.

Corsair Memory Product Manager, Matt Woithe, reinforced this point, noting that they are prepared to handle the extra heat generated by Corsair DDR5 modules with their Dual-path Heat Xchange (DHX) technology.

Additionally, the next generation of memory demands the inclusion of on-die EEC, which, while not verified by Corsair, will increase the module's power budget. Corsair anticipates releasing their first DDR5 memory modules before the end of this year, in time for the introduction of Intel's 12th Generation Alder Lake CPUs. On AMD's side enthusiasts will have to wait until the release of Zen 4 in 2022 to make use of the new DDR5 memory modules.
